Principal Test Engineer

 

Job Description: A Principal test engineer as part of a funded start-up with a world-class team that is creating a new generation of Power Management ICs that will have a disruptive impact on the power management industry. Responsibility as follows –

  • Focus on analog power IC/VR bench testing and lab characterization to support the design validation.
  • Work with the team to define the test plans, experiment scope, and perform data collection / analysis.
  • Develop test scripts for automating data collection based on Empower infrastructure.
  • Define automated test equipment (ATE) specifications and oversee the design and assembly of ATEs and test fixtures.
  • Develop diags from specifications defined by engineering teams. Develop scripts consistent with the test plans and manufacturing flow.
  • Statistical analysis and interpretation of results. Glean insights from measurements and correlate them back to the circuit design
  • Review and approve all manufacturing-related subassembly and final assembly test procedures.
  • Improve first-pass yields and production efficiencies by proactively identifying the root causes of failures and ensuring that corrective actions are performed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a related engineering or science field
  • 10+ year experience, advanced proficiency developing hardware test diags and scripts, and ATE
  • Excellent analytical and problems solving skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis and statistics
  • Experience managing technical and cross functional teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to start projects and drive them to completion with tangible results
  • Experience working on advanced technology/products
  • Experience working with global hardware design or manufacturing partners
  • Experience in power management test a plus

Skills & Expertise:

The ideal candidate will bring all or most of the following talents as a key part of our OPS/ENG team:

  • Strong ability with operating various test instruments, including but not limited to oscillators, power supplies, multimeters, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers.
  • Foundation and understanding of electronic measurement methodology.
  • Solid programming skills and can write efficient programs or scripts in to facilitate the characterization progress.
  • Have fundamental knowledge of the basic operating principles of the analog circuits.
  • Have a good understanding in PC board level design and debugging.
  • Fluent in verbal and written communications.
  • Preferably having abundant experience in Analog ATE testing
