Graphics processors (GPUs) are specialized processors for performing mathematical calculations in the rendering of complex images.
GPUs have tremendously large and fast current transients that require significant bypassing, careful PDN design, and large voltage guardbanding to avoid “blue screens”. High current levels lead to a tremendous number of SoC power balls and bumps with a complex package substrate design.
